OK, so as you might have read in my previous posts about Tommy Gunn and Sasha Grey, I have been super excited to see them as guest stars on Entourage. And for the first episode or two with Sasha, I was digging it. She is portrayed as a “real” character. She is a smart girl who wants more than just sex and she interracts with Vincent like a “normal” (non-porn) girl would, rather than the Hollywood stereotype. Even when her porn background comes up (like when she gets an offer to do an adult movie), it’s treated realistically. Vince has started falling for her, and as one would expect he has a hard time accepting her chosen career. But….
I am not so pleased with the writing and character development for Vincent in general. Concurrently with his relationship with a porn star, he also subtly begins to get into drugs, and becomes an irresponsible party animal (more than usual, anyway.) Now, granted it was not Sasha that got him into it, but I am disappointed that Vince’s drug problems are coinciding with his relationship with Sasha. Why is it that once the porn star enters the picture all of a sudden there are drugs too? I mean, talk about stereotype!
Now, I’m not so naive as to think that porn stars don’t do drugs. And there are certainly plenty of TV stars that do too. Hell, there’s plenty of non-famous people that do drugs. (And in my opinion it’s not anyone’s business unless it hurts someone. Another topic for another day, of course!) Anyway, it’s not the drug use, per se, that’s annoying to me. I was just hoping that Vince could have a relationship with a porn star, and not have the usual stereotypes that go along with it. *Sigh* Oh well….I guess Hollywood isn’t quite ready for that yet and I’ll have to deal with it. Fortunately it’s not gonna stop me from watching the show. Or watching her in porn! And from commenting on it!
