Porn Is For Mainstream Women

Did any of you watch Oprah yesterday afternoon? (This is actually not a question that I would normally ask, as I rarely watch Oprah – no offense to her of course – I just don’t watch TV during the day.) But I happened to find out the subject matter of her show and DVR’d it (to watch later in the evening.) The entire show was devoted to talking about Porn, Erotica, and Women. According to the stats Oprah’s folks were given, 1 in 3 consumers of online porn is female. Now, I’m generally suspect of random stats, but even if that’s an inflated number, I think it’s safe to say that more women than ever are choosing to watch porn. Although Oprah’s show presented some of the negative aspects of porn – and you’ll get no argument from me that there are negative aspects, I was pleased that she did a decent job in presenting the positive aspects as well. One of the main guests was Jenna Jameson, world-famous Porn Star. She talked about how being comfortable with your sexuality is empowering. For so long women have been told to suppress their natural instinct to want to enjoy sex. When we embrace who we are, we are more complete. Now, I’m not saying that porn is for EVERY woman. And I’m not saying you have to watch porn to be complete. But I think women watching porn is generally a good thing. Another guest on Oprah’s show was Violet Blue, well known sex educator, and author of books such as The Smart Girl’s Guide To Porn. She echoed Jenna’s point about empowerment. She also made the distinction between Erotica and Porn, saying that Erotica (or Erotic Porn) has multiple levels and therefore a deeper impact which appeals to women. Fortunately there are a few companies that produce porn that is for women, by women. I’ll go into more detail about those in another post, but rest assured you can find it if you look for it!

So, ladies – it’s time to take empowerment to the next level! Porn is For Women Too!

Porn for Women: 100 Movies for Gals Who Want to Explore

Porn for Women: 100 Movies for Gals Who Want to Explore

Having a hard time finding porn that satisfies a woman’s desires?  Click on the above link to check out this great new article over at Gamelink.com. This is exactly the kind of thing that I love finding! It’s informative, written well, and and is very organized. It starts out with some general information about women and their preferences for porn, what’s behind it, and the trends Gamelink.com sees from their female consumers. It even addresses the difficulties women face in finding the type of porn they’re looking for. Following the information is the top 100 list. What’s great about this list is that not only does it show the title of the movie, but also the category (alt, woman-directed, classics, etc.), and also some notes (generally what the movie is about.) This can really help you reduce the time you spend in browsing for what you like.

In addition to great articles like this one, and the tons of movies they provide (DVD and VOD), they also have a great selection of toys and apparel, live cams, reviews, and top-notch customer service. I have added Gamelink.com to my shopping list in the right column, for easy future reference. Go check ‘em out!

It’s hard to find a good adult website for women!

I’ve been doing quite a bit of research trying to find adult and porn websites that are directed specifically toward women (I know, it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!)  There’s a miniscule amount compared to what’s out there “for the guys”, and some of it is absolute CRAP.  A lot of sites say they’re for women, but when you actually start looking around you realize they look like the typical porn site for guys.  Or the pictures of the solo guys are obviously targeted toward the gay market (I think I speak for most women when I say I don’t really care to see a guy from behind, laying on his stomach with his butt up in the air and pointed straight at me, his fruit basket dangling down in all it’s glory! Not really the angle I’m looking for, ya know?)  And then there are the sites that look like they probably are for women, and maybe even BY women, but there’s not that much to them – the quality and/or quantity.  But there are a few good options out there, and I’ll be sharing them with you on an ongoing basis.  And by all means, if you find something out there, let me know!

O 4 Her is on the map!

Hello Blogosphere!

This is my first attempt at a blog – as if you couldn’t tell….lol.  I decided to start this blog because when I went looking for an intelligent website/blog about the woman’s viewpoint on sex, porn, lingere, dildo’s and all other things of a sexual nature, I found there to be very few that I was interested in.  I did find some that I liked, and I will list them in my blogroll very soon.  No doubt this will be a work in progress, but my main goal is to provide an online meeting place where women can feel comfortable discussing and learning about anything relating to sex, sexuality, and being sexy.  And of course, this blog will always be FOR women, BY women.
